Ironwood
Brewed in the East End since 2014

Ironwood is a 15-barrel brewhouse and taproom on the edge of the rail yards. Twenty taps, brewed steps from where you drink them, in a room built from the timber the old freight depot left behind.

  • 20 taps, always pouring
  • Open 7 days till late
  • Dogs welcome on the patio

Twenty handles. Nothing on autopilot.

Our core four pour year-round. The rest of the board rotates with the seasons, the harvest, and whatever the brewers are arguing about that week.

Core · 5.2%

Rail Yard Pale

Our flagship. Citra and Mosaic over a clean malt backbone — grapefruit, pine, and a snappy bitter finish that begs for a second.

Core · 6.1%

Depot Stout

A nitro oatmeal stout poured smooth as velvet. Dark chocolate, cold-brew coffee, and a roasty edge. The pint that built our reputation.

Rotating · 6.8%

Foundry Hazy IPA

Soft, juicy, and dangerously easy. A double dry-hop of Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin loads it with mango, passionfruit, and white grape.

Core · 5.4%

Old Timber Amber

Caramel, toasted bread, and a whisper of toffee. Malt-forward and balanced — the beer your skeptical uncle will quietly order three of.

Seasonal · 6.2%

Switchback Saison

Fermented warm with a Belgian farmhouse yeast. Pepper, lemon zest, and a dry champagne-like crackle. Brewed only when spring shows up.

Winter · 7.0%

Coal Smoke Porter

Aged on cacao nibs and a touch of smoked malt. Bonfire, dark fruit, and bittersweet chocolate. On tap from first frost to the thaw.

The taproom

A proper room to drink in,not just a place to buy beer.

We built Ironwood as somewhere you'd actually want to stay — long tables, warm light, and a kitchen that knows beer is the point.

Brewery-floor seating

Drink your pint twenty feet from the tanks it came out of. Reclaimed-timber tables, a 30-foot copper-topped bar, and a glass wall straight onto the brewhouse.

A kitchen that pairs

Wood-fired flatbreads, smoked-brisket sandwiches, and the best beer-battered fries in the city. Every dish is built to sit beside a specific tap.

Heated year-round patio

Forty seats under string lights and patio heaters, open through the cold. Dog-friendly, blanket-stocked, and the best seat in the house at sunset.

Growler & crowler fills

Take the fresh stuff home. Fill a 32oz crowler or your own growler from any tap, sealed at the bar in under two minutes.

Brewery tours

Saturdays at 2pm — a 45-minute walk through grain, mash, and ferment with a head brewer, three tasters in hand. Ten bucks, refunded against your first pint.

What's on this week

There's alwayssomething happening.

Ironwood is the neighbourhood's living room. Free to walk in, no cover, no reservation needed for most nights.

Tuesday Trivia

7pm sharp. Six rounds, a $50 bar tab for the winners, and questions our bartender writes far too seriously. Teams of up to six.

Live music Fridays

Local acts on the corner stage from 8pm. Folk, blues, and the occasional rowdy bluegrass band. Always free, always loud enough.

Brewer's Table dinners

Monthly five-course pairing nights with the head brewer at the table. 24 seats, sells out in a day. $75 a head, all in.

Private events & buyouts

Book the mezzanine for 20, or the whole taproom for 120. Custom tap lists, catered menus, and your name on the chalkboard.

Regulars & first-timers

The kind of place people come back to.

The Depot Stout on nitro is the best pour in the city, full stop. I've stopped pretending I'll order anything else.

Regular since 2016

We did our wedding rehearsal here in the mezzanine. They built us a custom tap list and the brisket had people texting me for a week.

Booked a private buyout

I walked in for one pint after a shift and stayed three hours for trivia. That's Ironwood in a sentence.

Before you head over.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are always welcome at the bar and patio. We take bookings for tables of 6 or more, the mezzanine, and any private event — grab one online or call the taproom.

Is the taproom kid and dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome on the patio anytime. Kids are welcome until 8pm in the main room — we've got a small menu and root beer on tap made in-house.

Can I take beer home?

Absolutely. Fill a crowler or growler from any tap at the bar, or grab four-packs of our core beers to go. We can't ship, but the fridge is always stocked.

Do you serve food, or can I bring my own?

Our kitchen runs from open till an hour before close. No outside food, but the wood-fired flatbreads and smoked brisket are worth showing up hungry for.

Where do I park, and are you on transit?

Free lot behind the building off Foundry Lane, plus street parking after 6pm. We're a five-minute walk from the East End station — and we'd rather you took transit anyway.

Twenty taps are pouring right now.

Pull up a stool, grab the patio, or book the room for your people. The first round's always the hardest decision you'll make here.
