What we translate

The documents wherea mistranslation costs a case.

General translation tools guess at meaning. Meridian Bureau assigns the right sworn specialist to the right document, then proves the result with a certificate that carries legal weight.

Sworn & certified translations

Birth and marriage certificates, diplomas, court orders, and corporate records — translated by a sworn or accredited linguist, stamped, and issued with a signed certificate of accuracy that registrars, IRCC, courts, and consulates accept on first submission. Notarization and apostille handling on request.

Legal & contract translation

Contracts, pleadings, e-discovery, and arbitration bundles handled by linguists who read the law in both languages — so a limitation clause, a defined term, and a governing-law provision survive the crossing intact.

Patent & technical translation

Patent specifications, claims, and prior art rendered by subject-matter translators who protect the scope of every claim and hold your terminology identical across the whole family.

Regulatory & life-sciences

IFUs, clinical summaries, SmPCs, and submission dossiers translated to EMA, FDA, and Health Canada expectations, with a documented QA trail your auditors can follow line by line.

Financial & corporate

Audited statements, prospectuses, and M&A data rooms translated under NDA by finance specialists who keep figures, footnotes, and tone board-ready.

How a document moves through the bureau

Two linguists, onecertificate, every termaccounted for.

Accuracy is not a promise — it is a process. Every Meridian project runs the same four-step workflow, and the certificate at the end names the people who stand behind it.

Specialist, not generalist

Your document is matched to a linguist who works in your field and language pair — patents to a patent translator, pleadings to a legal one. Never a generalist guessing at a term of art.

Translate, then revise (ISO 17100)

A second qualified linguist reviews the full translation against the source — the revision step ISO 17100 requires and most low-cost vendors quietly skip.

Terminology held in lockstep

We build a glossary and translation memory for your account, so 'the Agreement' stays 'the Agreement' across every filing, version, and follow-on matter.

Certified, sealed, traceable

You receive the translation, a signed certificate of accuracy, and an audit trail naming both linguists — notarization-ready and built to clear the registrar on the first pass.

In their words

The bureau our clients stop shopping around for.

We filed certified French exhibits in a cross-border dispute and opposing counsel could not lay a glove on the translation. The second-linguist review is the difference between a translation and evidence.

Our patent family spans six jurisdictions. Meridian kept the claim terminology identical across every language, so we stopped losing scope in translation. No other vendor even tried to manage the glossary.

Two of our immigration files had been bounced for translation defects before we found Meridian. Every certified document since has cleared IRCC on the first submission. That is the whole job.

Before you send us a document.

Will your certification be accepted by the court or registrar I'm filing with?

Yes. Every job is issued with a signed certificate of accuracy naming the qualified linguist, and where required the translator is sworn or accredited (ATIO, OTTIAQ, NAATI, or the equivalent for your jurisdiction). Tell us the receiving authority — a court, IRCC, a consulate, a notary — and we format the certificate to what they expect so it clears on first submission.

What is the difference between a certified, sworn, and notarized translation?

A certified translation comes with our signed statement of accuracy. A sworn translation is produced by a translator legally authorised to certify in a given jurisdiction. A notarized translation adds a notary public attesting to the translator's identity and signature. We advise which one your situation requires and handle notarization and apostille on request.

How fast can I get a certified translation back?

Standard certified turnaround is 36 hours for documents up to a few pages, and same-day rush is available on retainer. Larger filings — a contract bundle, a patent family, a submission dossier — are scoped with a firm delivery date before we begin, never an open-ended estimate.

How do you keep confidential documents secure?

Every linguist works under a signed NDA, files move through an encrypted portal rather than email, and managed-program clients get a dedicated secure data room with SSO and access logging. We can sign your confidentiality agreement and accommodate data-residency requirements in Canada or the EU.

Do you just run my document through machine translation?

No. Certified work is translated and revised by qualified human linguists — that is what makes the certificate meaningful and admissible. Where a client wants speed on non-certified, high-volume content, we offer machine translation with expert post-editing as a clearly separate, clearly labelled service. We never pass raw machine output off as certified.

Send the document you cannot get wrong.

Upload your file for a fixed quote and a firm delivery date. A project manager replies within the business day — and a certified, court-ready translation follows.
